Community Programs

About the Programs

In 2018, the Sandler Center Foundation launched a Community Programs and Grants Committee, which is aptly named to oversee our community programs and outreach, as well as our grantmaking to support other non-profit organizations championing for the performing arts.

These program partnerships help fulfil the Sandler Center Foundation’s goal of enriching and building the community. Collectively these community programs have reached and inspired 1,200+ Hampton Roads families. Through our strategic partnerships and program support, a love of the arts has been further instilled in our community.

We are proud to be presenting sponsor of Armed Services Arts Partnership’s Operation Improv and Comedy Bootcamp workshop sessions in Hampton Roads, which are designed to reintegrate veterans into their communities through the arts. With Virginia recognized as the state with the third highest military population and Hampton Roads as home to the largest Navy base in the world, support of our military service members and their families is important to the Foundation and its community support.

The Sandler Center Foundation is now in its fourth year of its Local Heroes Program, which was designed to support and recognize Virginia Beach educators, first responders, and local military service members who serve the local community through their dedicated work. The program provides the opportunity for these heroes to attend a live performance by one of the Sandler Center resident companies.
