Over 2,200 Area Students to Attend
Professor Wow’s FUN-Believable Science ShowSM

~Media Invitation to Attend Performance at the Sandler Center~

November 7th, 2018- Virginia Beach
On Monday, November 19th, 2,233 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, from schools located in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk and Hampton, will ascend on the Sandler Center of the Performing Arts for two matinée performances of Professor Wow’s zany, high-energy FUN-Believable Science ShowSM. Of these students, 1,251 of them received funding from the Sandler Center Foundation to attend.

Fun antics, combined with learning, will thrill the elementary school students as they experience the fantastic 12-foot tall “Foam Monster,” the seemingly impossible “Balloons in Orbit,” the uproariously funny “Bernoulli TP Wipe Out Challenge,” and the “Super-Colossal Vortex Cannon.”  They will learn that nothing is impossible—as long as it obeys the laws of science! A description of the show can be found at https://sandlercenterfoundation.org/education-and-student-matinees/.

The Sandler Center Foundation offers unique cultural and educational experiences to teachers, students and homeschool families through its Education Program. These matinée performances provide many students with their first experience in a world-class performing arts venue, while also providing a fun learning experience to support and enhance the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs).  The Foundation, through the support of its members and education partners, including PRA Group and Dominion Energy, serves over 16,000 students annually, 80% of whom receive attendance funding.

Founded in 2005, the Sandler Center Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization with a mission to educate, inspire creativity, broaden horizons, build community, enrich lives, increase understanding and acceptance through intercultural exchange, improve our local economy, strengthen our local arts organizations and instill appreciation of the arts to future generations through the underwriting of world-class performing arts programming and performances at the Sandler Center of the Performing Arts. On February 23rd, 2019 the Sandler Center Foundation will be underwriting the performance of renowned soprano Renée Fleming.

In addition to its Education Program, the Foundation also hosts the local military, educators, first responders and their families to a free Sandler Center resident company performance through their Local Heroes Program.   More can be found about membership and all these programs at SandlerCenterFoundation.org.
